Whats it all about then?

workshopsBrave New Brum's solar powered mobile media lab created from trash computers and open source software is offering workshops, events and resources at a variety of locations throughout Birmingham this summer

Brave New Brum is creating a plurality of maps focusing on the redevelopment of Birmingham's city centre and inner/outer city areas.

It is gathering critical responses and positive alternatives to the prestige led redevelopment currently occuring throughout the city.

From wild food walks to what you think of where you live, from autonomous energy to supermarket games we are running a variety of activities looking at what's happening, and what can happen, in our city.

workshopsWe are visiting Nechells, Kings Norton, Handsworth , Shard End and beyond. As well as doing workshops at community events we are also organising our own happenings with visiting artists from Bristol,Oxford,London and Wales.

Check the calender for dates and details

workshopsThe menu on the right has reports from workshops and events that we have done, plus some critical information about regeneration that we have found whilst researching both on the web and on our travels.

We are also producing 3 fanzines, the first one is out now. Email for a copy.

If you have any interesting stories about your area or if you have any gripes (or delights) about the regeneration processes that are happening or if you want to contribute resources for the online map of Birmingham then email us: info at bravenewbrum.org

The website will also soon contain a variety of resources on alternative methods of living in a city , with information on renewable and autonomous energy, how to survive in a post-oil world, a FAQ of permaculture, articles on consumption and advertising and much more.
